Why do people hate the French I don't get it also?

My boyfriend is French and I love him and The French are so sweet and kind:) Why do people hate them? also Why doesn't America get Universal Health Care like all of Europe? I live in Paris with my fiance and I don't understand why America won't get Universal Health care? Can someone tell me why this is ? Also what are your thoughts on my question? Also if you say you do hate the French why is this? give me a good enough reason?

Don't hate the French though.

Almost all nationalities in this world hate other nationalities at the same time. So, this hating each other thing is really common.

And, good for you to have a French boyfriend ^^ (The world needs a lot of people like you who don't see people for their race/nationalities. But as human being ^^ )

Not all Americans hate the French, but the animosity towards France and the French has to do with the way the French acted after the Allieds helped them out in WWII and the French Government responded by asking  the American soldiers to leave their French bases during DeGaulle's regime. The French tend to be arrogant and many Americans despise that attitude.

About France's medical insurance system, it's probably the best in the world according to the World Health Organization. The French people don't have to worry about the cost of medical care because it's taken care of by the State. Universal Health Care is a right and Americans should demand it as Europeans do.

I personally like France and the French people. I do understand the anti-French attitude but I don't condone it.

It's because they act everyone thinks they act rude to forgeiners, espcally Americans, beacuse of their poor manner. It may also come from the fact that they surrendered to the n***s during World War II.

I don't hate the French but the French can be arrogant and very anti-American at times.  The reason we don't have socialized medicine in America is that it doesn't work.  In France, everyone has health coverage but NOT EVERYONE gets health care in a timely fashion or the medicines they need.  That is the dirty little secret; everyone is talking about "universal health coverage" but actually getting good medical care under socialism is nearly impossible.  How do I know?  Because we have Canadians coming across the border every day to get care in the U.S.  We have the best doctors and waiting six months to see an oncologist after you have been diagnosed with cancer isn't what we call "good healthcare."  I believe you are quite naive.

anyone who 'hates' the french needs to get a life.

the mian reason people have a negative opinion of them, is becasue they say they are 'rude'. but these poeple never ask themselves why the french are rude. this is mainly becasue english speakers go on holiday to  france- don't even attempt to speak one word of french, and disrespect the french culture. obviously the french people are going to be rude to these kinds of people. the french are a very pround nation, proud of their language/culture/history etcetc so if some arrogant american walks into a french cafe and can't even say "bonjour madame", they shouldn't expect the waitress to smile and be happy.

I'd be french any day over british/american.

I live 14 km from the french border, and I don't hate them, I just perceive that some are arrogant regarding the french language, but that's all. I plan to visit Paris this fall. see ya

I live in the UK and nobody here hates the French (except the editors of the tabloids and a few extreme Europhobes). Did you know that France is the most popular holiday destination for British people?

America doesn't get universal health care because a lot of people in the establishment there don't believe that the public purse should be used for healthcare, welfare and other things that we Europeans take for granted. Some of them even openly despise Europeans for having these things.

People will hate anyone just to hate.  There is no rhyme or reason.

Yahoo! wrote an article about a study that was taken, French tourists aren't just despised in America, but just about every country including France!

French are displayed as arrogant and ruthless people. Perhaps they are.  As Americans are displayed as fat, lazy pigs. We know both don't apply to every citizen, but we think of it as true.
