  1. Evolution!!

  2. Evolution, we evolve from primates, most smaller earlier primates have tails, therefore we have tail bones as a remnant.

  3. just as we have our wisdom teeth with no modern purpose...vistigial...once in use but no longer

  4. other than the basic evolution answer. generally changing a body structure too drastically causes a lot of developmental problems, so we see a lot of embryonic recapitulation, stuff that doesn't stick around is used for different functions in the final body, the tail other than supporting a few muscles is useless.

  5. I have seen examples of children, who are products of inbreeding (within their own family), born with tails...

    It's a genetic "throwback".

  6. believe it or not, it is a reptilian remnant. look it up.

  7. We evolved from apes that had tails. I wish we still had them.

  8. i asked my bio teacher and he says theres really no point to it other than a halfway point.

  9. because when we're in the womb our tail turns into our butt and thats what remains.

  10. Because human ancestors has tails, and they have not evolved completely away yet.
