Why do people have to be so negative?

My boyfriend and I currently live in different states. He's got a job interview with a company an hour away from where I live and work. We're not entirely sure of the very specifics but he might only be going into an office two or three times a week. We'll definitely be living together so I've been checking the rental house market here and where his job would be. When I tell friends where i've looked at houses they always comment "Oh that's so far to drive! you don't want to do that". My thought is - well, i'd rather drive an hour one way to work and get to go home to him every night than to only be able to see him once a month for four days like is our situation now. Why do people have to be so negative? Why can't they see that being together is WAY more important than a long drive to and from work??

  1. We are programmed to look on the negative side of everything. Stop telling your friends and just do it. What may seem a long drive for them may not look the same way to you because your perspective is different. On the other hand they might be well meant, because their practical sense tells them that after a while it may not be so attractive to drive so far.

Honestly, life is too short to waste it on inconsequential issues. Be happy.

  2. Because they hate you and they don't want you to be happy.

  3. your friends probably just don't want you toleave because they won't see you as often

  4. Because they want you to remain independent.  If you move in with him and drive that far for work, you probably won't be able to afford rent because of the exhorbitant gas prices... and therefore would have to rely on the boyfriend to pay your share.

Plus he's only your boyfriend... they'd probably think it was cool if you were engaged or something.
