  1. Because they need money to afford all their toys...cars, devices, houses, boats, more cars, dirt bikes, seadoos, electronics, several marriages, children from several marriages, sushi, fancy coffee, vacations, booze, drugs...  Americans are very spoiled.

  2. what? I don't think that's true live in the US and I've been to Europe and Asia and to be honest I don't think that's true.  I'm not trying to put down the hard working people here because there are plenty but overall I don't think people in the US work harder.

  3. B.F. Skinner would say, because we are conditioned to work harder, a trait passed on from one generation to another. A trait born out of the societal acceptance of the concept of working harder. I mean look at our social and working environment. Everything is geared towards motivating us to work harder. e.g mommy saying to a child: "Well if you work harder and practice harder you will succeed." The saying that goes "Hard work is always rewarded" and a bunch of others. At some people see it as achieving the goal of life, fulfilling the meaning of life. Refer to Viktor E. Frankl and Albert Camus for this. Hope that helps...................................... i need to work on what to get for lunch!

  4. it's a result of the "Protestant Work Ethic."  Google it and don't be so sweet.

  5. because everyone who can run, jump and swim from other countries is already here . It's not just Americans, it's everyone else who wants work too, they come here, legally or illegally. This is suppose to be the land of opportunity so a lot of people want in willing to work and work hard.

  6. Because we play harder and we need a lot of money to support our play habits. So we work more to earn more money to support our play habits.

  7. The question is why don't they?

  8. Who says that Americans work harder? I would say that the people in Africa and Asia work hardest. Americans just sit in their comfortable offices typing and making calls. Ask a child worker in China or the woman and men in Africa who bust their *** for a fraction of what we make why we work harder.
