  1. Hmmm, I have two thoughts on this.  The first one being that I think people do it because they can.  The same reason my kids got in trouble today for smearing mud on others.  Sometimes they can just be a little annoying and like it.  Granted, the children in question are 7 and 5, not supposed adults.

Secondly, I have changed my name, clothing, hair, and background a few times as well.  When Teresa died, I needed to have something that says I am a mom because of her.  As far as my avatar, who wants to have the same hair style and clothing all of the time?  Kristy, we ALL know who Gershom is, no matter the name or clothing.

  2. Hi Gershom,

I'm beginning to believe mental instability and wwwwaaayyy too much free time.

  3. To stir the pot, or to vent while still maintaining a "credible" persona.  Some use it to make personal attacks.  I do think that some make an alias to post as an AP or adoptee in order to say everything that validates the feelings and opinions expressed by the main alt.

Meaning, someone who hates international adoption might decide to make a persona that talk about adopting Asian babies because they are more submissive.   Or someone who has issues with an "angry" adoptee might create a persona to say "I'm adopted.  Get over it."

Either way, I think it's childish.  But I don't waste a lot of time/energy/effort on it either.

  4. They're calling in the only backup troops they have?

I seriously doubt that these folks truly suffer from DID.

Okay, seriously, I imagine that these people feel either frightened or feel there isn't enough support for their positions of matters.  Perhaps they simply wish to "stir the pot."

  5. some people are unsure of themselves.

loving homes are better places for the children than even the finest orphanage.

  6. LOL.

I don't get it either. I could maybe understand if it was a really embarrassing question like abnormal vaginal discharge in the med section and you were uncomfortable asking as yourself, but I don't know about this section. I think some people what it to seem like everyone shares their opinion and so they make people to agree with them.

    That's my best guess.

  7. I think as it has been stated "FEAR" and they might want to say something that others may find controversial and they don't want to be identified. I also think that they are a shamed of what they want to say and have said. And with the Avatar...  Just as some people will NOT cut one off when walking down the street. But in a car they feel stronger and get the courage to do things they they know are NOT right.

  8. Well coming from someone who also changes avatar and names periodically...  you should be telling us!  Personally, I think it's just to stir up trouble, spew hatred, or they are really new people in here.

  9. Whatever it is, it's probably the same reason they block all e-mail and IM contact on here.

  10. What exactly are you talking about? I have not personaly noticed this.

  11. FEAR.

How exhausting it must be to be so afraid of everything.

  12. Validation for the crime they feel they committed.

Mei: I block mine for the sole reason to remain independent in my responses and questions.  Although I think there are some really cool people on here, I do wish to stay unbiased.

  13. People are passive aggressive. They don't feel good enough with their own opinions and so rather risk personal ridicule they create aliases to do their dirty work.

I changed my name because I don't need everyone and their duck knowing my first name. If you can't recognize the sassy pout then tough...

Personally I think they're all 13 year old trolls with way too much free time...

  14. One word:  Cowards
