i mean it doesn't pay much, doesn't help much with school, you're pretty much certain to get deployed to Iraq, which then you'll have to put school on hold...i mean there are other options for college money and if people want to become officers they should go to college first then join.

i just don't see a purpose for the reserves other than you must d**n love the Marine Corps.

i just think people should either go active duty or college

what's yalls opinions?

  1. I guess the pride of being a Marine is something you will never experience..and or have no clue as to what its like..

And after a while you do get your GI benefits..

And for many it is a way to live their normal lives while defending America as a Marine..

And please explain how your "certain" to get deployed to Iraq??

Most active duty Marine dont deploy to Iraq,..so why would you make false statements? I know why..Because you have no clue as to what your speaking about.

Marines are scheduled to be no more in Iraq by 2010..So I dont think reserve Marines will be deploying any time soon to Iraq as you state..

  2. funny LAVADOG because my 4 brothers and 7 cousins are all Marines and were all deployed to Iraq at least once. and so were all their friends.  my brother has been deployed 3 different times and he is in the reserves.

one of my cousins has admin as an MOS and she is the only Marine I know who hasn't been deployed yet.

many active duty Marines get deployed or will.

  3. People love the corps/want to serve their country, but also want to spend more time with the wife/kids/family/etc. than they would otherwise be able to do if they were enlisted full-time.

  4. It allows me to go to college and serve in the Marine Corps at the same time. In most cases, you also have a civilian job as well as the Selected Reserves GI Bill to help you out with school plus other scholarships for service members. Sure, being in the reserves sometimes suck but for me it was worth it.

  5. because doesn't the marine reserves put you through college after your time is up?

and it gives an option for people who have no options
