Ok ive had it!! People judge homeschooling like we are shelterd unsocialized people, but we arent!! Don't they realize there are plenty of homeschooling programs. And if you have a religon its a really good thing to do. Like i am a christian and i go to a christian homeschooling program once a week and i am on a homeschooling basketball team!! I love it. So before you judge homeschooling make sure your program is clean!!

Something i wanted to get off my chest.

Also i'm 17, and when i was 13 i had the mind of a 25 year old and i still have a above average mind i dont think i would have had without homeschooling..

no offense to public/private schools....

But if you agree please answer if you dont please dont answer.

Thanks!!

God Bless!!!!!!

  1. You're bucking propaganda effectively dished out by the public school districts and Teacher's Unions.

    And it works.

See homeschooling works and the US Department of HEW knows it, as do most colleges which is why they give priority enrollment to homeschoolers.

Homeschoolers are typicall 1-3 grade ahead of brick schoolers.  They are getting into college as young as 16.

Homeschooling as grown from <1% in 1980 to 8% this year and by 2015 it is expected to be in the 15% range and by 2050 it is expected to be in the 25-33% range

And EACH KID removed from a public schools means LESS money from the Fed.

Hence the propaganda.  It's not about education and socialization, it's about losing $$$$ and the Teachers and School Districts can't afford to lose any more!

  2. I agree... sort of...

I think many of the homeschool critics here and elsewhere don't really care about the truth.

They have a personal or political agenda that for them makes the truth irrelevant.

  3. I think it's cause you can tell SOME stuff before you know, but you have to talk to the person before you really know.

  4. Well I agree.  People judge unfairly whatever they do not understand.

  5. Religion, like educational options - are very personal. I think you speak very well for a teen (I didn't notice your vowels all missing).

I think that it is always easier for people to judge the things that they do not understand than it is for them to either learn about them or accept them.

It is very hard to find supporters of homeschoolers outside of the homeschool community. It is especially hard to find ones when it comes to teenagers.

Kudos to you and your family!

  6. good for you another example of homeschooling greatness is wonderful homeschooling is awesome god has blessed many good luck to you and your wonderful work keep up the wonderful life you lead god has great plans for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. You are very correct, many people judge without actually looking into the reasons and what the child is learning while being homeschooled.  I haven't homeschooled my child.  I have felt no need to and am quite happy with the public school education she has received up to this point.  BUT....because of a medical diagnosis that was make on December 11th, I may have to start homeschooling her.  She is unhappy with that choice but it may have to be.

Many people think that homeschooling is just a way for lazy children (and lazy parents) to get out of getting up early, doing homework, etc.  Or, they think that it is a "cult teaching" setup where kids are NEVER prepared for the "real" world.

There are some instances when both of these scenerios are true and that is the sad part.  The general population sees only the bad and then make a broad judgement based on too little information.

Glad that homeschooling has worked out so well for you!

Take care and all the best in the future!

  8. wow i never thought i could find people who understand homeschooling. i went to public school since kindergerten untill 4th grade. at 4th grade i was all over the place tormenting my teachers, my ma and my self.she started homeschooling me( i am not an easy person especially then). i had to go back to high school because i wasn't at home at that time-family issues. but those 4 years left an impact. i was able to be around teachers, i was ableto regulate my emotions better, my grades where better than in my elementry years. i developed alove for learning tha i did not posses in 4th grade. Socialization? let's get creative here. there is more ways than to be around a bunch of adolesant kids 8 hrs a day. I went to museums, parks, painted, went to the playgroundetc.

i just graduated from my high school and i love alot of my teachers, but those 4 years of my ma teaching me with the tight budget we had will always stay in my heart and in my mind and spirit. its hard work but bravo ! bravo! keep doing the good work homeschoolers!!!!Bravo!
