Why do people judge looks?

I think every one does it even though we try not to and say it is bad. But what gives us the urge or pleasure in judging a book from it's cover?

  1. because it gives us the feeling of control, like we're intelligent enough to be able to predict someones personalities and beliefs just by the way they dress and look. it makes us feel better about ourselves because we usually assume really terrible things about them, eg if theyre wearing black and have black dyed hair, most people would assume theyre emo and cry into their pillow every night, and that makes us feel better about our own lives.

  2. yeah i know its bad; but i do it. No ones perfect we all make mistakes

but this whole judging a book by its cover often happens to be the biggest mistake most make. I think i do it because thats the first thing i see. You cant see someones personality. So you say what you know or see first and then get proven wrong. or sometimes right....

  3. Coz that's the first thing that people see. If you're purchasing a book, you got to see the title first before buying it right? Same goes to people.
