It just seems like a waste of money, gas, and harming the enviroment. Why would it not be mandatory to start making and selling smaller cars?

  1. if they drove mini vans, that would make you happier?

  2. SUV's are great cars!  You can really have tons of fun in one of them.  My SUV does nothing to effect you, I pay for my own gas and take nothing from you.

  3. I can't imagine driving a small car.  I will gladly be the last one driving my big fat SUV when gas prices are $20 per gallon.  How in the world am I supposed to lug around a million tons of baby gear, carseats, groceries, work stuff, dogs, inflatable toys, bikes, tow a boat, etc etc.

I was wondering when they were going to start making bigger cars!

  4. It is useable as a fuel, but guess who bought up all the  Hydrogen producing facilities in the USA?    the  BIG oil companies!

Because big oil companies have a huge infrastructure already in place for diesel and gasoline.  They are not about to change it for nothing.

We won't  see very much done with H2 because big oil won't allow it.

  5. people buy suv's because their neighbor has one.

  6. I am driving a small suv but that is only because i cannot afford anything else.

  7. There are some people who probably need them.  But that's like 5% of all SUV-owners I think.

I think more often they're just greedy or selfish.

  8. You can't make it mandatory because we (supposedly) still live in a free society and have the right to make our own choices -- no matter how wrong they may be.

  9. It varies per person.  One might ask, why would you buy a huge suv, well, some people not only have an SUV sized family, but they might also haul stuff like the family camper, fun fun family time.  There are vehicles that are owned for more reasons than exterior appeal.  Vehicles are also chosen for size, power, and other ways how this vehicle can be benefical.  What are you to do if you have 4 kids?  You are limited.  Cannot drive a car.  Cannot even drive a small SUV.  YOu could drive a mini van, but what if you live in the country where the roads get a bit muddy, mini can just is not going to get you from point A to point B.  THere is so many reasons, some people just really like them.  SOme people are anti-mini van.

You cannot pass a law that takes away a person's choice of vehicle.  We all have choices, we all have reasons for our choices.  Some people feel safer in a big SUV compared to a small vehicle.

  10. Because they continue to be marketed to them, and people are easily led. As for it being mandatory to start making and selling smaller cars, I'm with you, but the people who make the laws lifestyles(and campaigns) are funded by folks who are immoral and favor an overly unsustainable method of personal gain. Somewhere, the gene for human survival instinct went missing, future generations and the planet be damned. Gotta' love this capitalism thing.

  11. People keep buying SUV's because they believe that the government and scientists will solve our oil shortages and C02 glut. Only when we have a true crisis ($4.00 a litre?) will the government legislate engine displacement. In the future you will get a ticket for driving an 8 seat vehicle by yourself.

SUV's get a lot of negative press, but look in downtown TO or Calgary and you will see buffoons commuting in 10 MPG, 1 ton dually trucks. We all see the guy with the little p***s, driving the massive truck or SUV and the lady who just can't drive to save her life, who needs that 9,000 lbs SUV to "win" the collision.  There's no excuse, get a mini van if you have a large family. You say you need your truck to tow your large camper? Good God, get a tent, enjoy the woods for real.

There's no legitimate excuse to waste precious natural resources in this day and age.

  12. My friend is a new millionaire and he drives a smart fortwo, he doesn't give a d**n what people think of him.  I and he wouldn't be seen dead in a SUV.

Most people who drive them can't afford them.  My friend works in a tyre shop and most of the drivers of SUVs buy the cheapest (and most dangerous) tires for the simple fact they can't afford better ones.  I think they look dumb franky, they are impossible to park, eat through your wallet, and are so ostentatious.

  13. They like how they look I guess!

  14. It comes down to a lot of things. SUVs were first introduced and marketed by car makers. They would obviously profit more because SUVs would cost more money, and oil companies would also reap in the profits of low mileage. In response, Americans were led to purchase them because they were bigger. It started off as a "my car is bigger than yours". And, a lot of us here like bigger. Bigger and faster is better. Most importantly, it easily crossed over to multiple markets...moms loved em, single men loved them, and people just began buying more and more. Unfortunately, nobody seems to care about the environment, and they a lot of people think the gas is worth it. And nowadays, people say that they can't live without them. Well, they weren't here before, and I think they were fine without them then. Throwing away my trash on the ground is much easier than finding a trash can, but I just want to think of it responsibly.

Mandatory smaller cars is highly unlikely, and its also not fair. It IS a market, and people should have a right to have these cars. I just think we should tax the h**l out of them for it.

  15. SUV's are the best sellers in america and its cos of the low fuel price there....and people also but SUV's cos they think its a style statment SUV's represent POWER so i think these two are the main reasons....well u cannot forcefully compel someone to buy a small car but people should understand themselves that small car is better cos its fuel effecient and in these heavy jam roads small cars would be better maybe it will be an ease on the traffic situation..

  16. First of all they have the money! They like nice things! And suv's are downright cool! Escalade is one of my top picks!

  17. Well let us male a new law that puts every body in jail if they disagree with ME.

  18. Because some: feel they look better, feel richer, want to feel the power of their engines, want their versatility, have money for it,  may sit more people, etc. Any one of this, or more (or none) may be reasons.

  19. Some people just love big cars.

Some like to show them as a symbol of ruff n tuff persona.

Some just think big is better.

    Some have a big family.

Some people travel a lot so they cantake more frnds n relatives along n also SUV dont get struck in muddy or harsh paths.

People with small height, want something higher to feel big n people with big height need to put their legs properly so big cars rock in the case...

We cant make a rule to make small cars coz in that context some people would say small cars are useless. It just depends on personal choice n requirements.

Anyways u enjoy ur small car.

I love cars of all sizes but for normal day to day driving, i prefer smaller 1 coz its easy to get it anywhere + people cant ask me to lend my car for their long journey probs ;-)
