Question:

Why do people keep hitting the elevator buttons?

They expect it to go faster this way. Why? It's the same with the crosswalk light buttons. It's not going to make it go faster.

Are they trying to look important by looking to be in a rush?

  1. lol I do that. It's because maybe I didn't hit it hard enough and so I hit it a couple more times. It has nothing to do with looking important for me. I don't know how you would come to that conclusion. But I am impatient. Also in the elevator I hold the door closed button all the way down or up in the hope that it will deter the elevator from stopping and letting people on. Never works. lol  I just don't like elevators especially being on with other people.

  2. It gives people some kind of satisfaction to think and act as if they actually do have control over the speed of the elevator or crosswalk. Its a mental thing. That or they really are in a rush and think that one day, that extra push may save them 2 seconds in the long run.

  3. I JUST WANT TO GET TO MY FLOOR!!!!!!
