Question:

Why do people keep saying that Ohio State got stomped in last years BCS national title game?

14 points is not classified as a "stomping" in football standards. Plus, Ohio State was in a rebuilding year last year. Don't hate because other teams in the country couldn't take care of their business and let Ohio State fall into the BCS national title game.

  1. People are just plain stupid, no other way for it. OSU and LSU were about the same in offensive yards. OSU commited 5 personal fouls. It's funny argueing it with a Georgia fan. OSU got stomped by LSU by 14, and Georgia battled Tennessee to a 21 point loss.

As a special note to my good buddy Calil. A rebuilding year is what LSU is going to go through this season. Your 4 losses aren't going to be because they have to play in the SEC, they are going to be because you aren't half as good as you were last season.

  2. osu was terrible in that game. personally, i don't think much is going to change this year.

  3. What's going to be funny is when they make it to the BCS title game for a third consecutive year and get stomped again.  This year will be by Tim Tebow and the Florida Gators!!!!

  4. ohio state destroyed wisconsin

    trash talking loser

  5. the scoreboard is the ultimate desision. but physically, ohio state was stomped. the scoreboard may not have shown it, but floridas offense was too good and made the entire team look like fools

  6. because people have and always will hate on the buckeyes even though we have only lost 3 games in the last 3 years, won a national title in 02-03 went in 06, and 07....sure 06 was a blowout but the 07 title loss was expected by everybody even osu fans.....our team was . in a rebuilding year to say the least, the offense was one dimensional and the d and o line were weak, LSU was much more experienced and well rounded. So losing by 14 points to a better team isn't bad, its not a close game, but I wouldn't call it a blowout. OSU didn't play terribly in that game either, we had 142 yds on the ground 208 in the air, but our D couldnt hold. People always have and always will hate on osu, its apart of being a buckeye. 2008 should be our year at last though.

  7. Scores can sometimes be deceiving and that was definitely true in this case. LSU dominated both sides of the ball and Ohio St. got lucky to manage the points they put up. The score was much closer than the game.

  8. it is really annoying because they were rebuilding and were lucky to make it to a bcs game and lose to the clear best team in the country by 14. This year they are stacked though and if they beat usc, beanie wells will win the heisman and the bucks will finally win!

  9. It wasn't a stomping according to the score, but watching the game, OSU was dominated.  I'm a HUGE Buckeye fan, but it wasn't a great effort.  '07 was embarrassing, '08 was a bit more respectable, but still embarrassing.  The thing that bugged me was when everyone was upset because Ohio State "backed into the NC game."  So did LSU!!!  The only way either team made it there was because the teams ahead of them lost in the last two weeks of the season.  It was a crappy end to the season no matter what way you looked at it.  I don't even think that both were the "best" teams in the country which is what it was supposed to be.  But then again, there has to be a winner and a loser, so maybe OSU was the second best last year.  I don't know.  But I wouldn't have objected to seeing a USC-LSU game.

I had doubts about OSU going into the game as well, but I was still happy to be playing for the championship.  Here's the deal:  The hate is coming from all the other fans that can only wish that their team had made it to the NC game the past two years.  You're stupid if you wouldn't have wanted your team to have that shot.  OSU has been called the most hated college football program in the country ahead of schools like Miami, USC, Michigan, and Notre Dame.  Notice the trend: All teams have great histories of winning.  People hate winners.  Consider it a compliment that they hate the Bucks.

And to the fool that sugested that Tressel needs to be replaced...shoot yourself.  If schools replaced coaches that lost bowl games and national championships, we wouldn't have seen some of the greatest coaches.  He also won a national championship in '02 when he was supposed to be "out-coached" and "out-played", so it's not as if he has NEVER won the big one.  We'll keep the sweater vest as long as it keeps beating Michigan and putting up 11 win seasons and getting us into BCS bowl games and national championships.  You can all keep your up-and-down coaches.

  10. Exactly! OSU wasn't even supposed to make it to the game! Florida was a stomping...last year was just lucky they even made it. Wait until this year...

  11. Well as a Big Blue fan, I'll be honest.  They don't show up in the big game BCS.  They've been out speeded, out coached, and basically treated like a JV team in the game.  This isn't hate, its fact, until Ohio State can at least look like a possible threat to win, the nation would rather see anyone else in the spot besides habitual losers of the championship game.  I give respect because Michigan hasn't been there recently and won't this year either.  But it still dosen't change the fact that the Buckeyes are not up to their SEC foes in championship games, and its obvious.

  12. Yeah, that last touchdown OSU scored in the last 2 minutes of the game was against our 2nd string defense. I think OSU got stomped pretty good.

    But I feel your pain...........

    Dont cry out loud.......

just remember you almost made it.

  13. They didn't get stomped points wise, in terms of the playing of the actual game, they got stomped. Ohio State played terribly and should have lost by more than 14

  14. Yeah, but the lost in the BCS what? 3 years straight now, its consider a yearly stomping...

  15. If you watched the game you should know why.I am a big 10 fan and i am embarressed.OSU should not have been in that game. There were a couple of other teams that deserved to be there alot more.USC,Geogia,Oak,MIzzou and even Kansas should have gone ahead of OSU.OSU plated noone pre conference and big 10 was sick.

  16. What is a "rebuilding year"?  Does that mean that sweater-vest only does his jobs every few years and goes out and recruits when a rebuilding year is needed.  I'm just wondering.  I pull for LSU and they stay loaded.  Jim Tressel needs to be replaced with somebody that keeps up on their job.

  17. The score is not very indicative of the way the game was really played. Ohio State scored early with a long touchdown run by Wells but that play proved to be a fluke as the running game was nothing more than medicre the rest of the game. Also LSU was up 38-17 until very late when OSU put up that touchdown to get back into a respectable position.

LSU scored 24 unanswered by putting together drives and playing great defense following a FG and the Wells touchdown.

OSU was 3-13 on 3rd down conversions LSU 11-18. LSU won the turnover battle 3-1

  18. Uh? because anything but a win or a lost by a field goal in the national championship is considered a blow out.If you didnt remember they didnt pull within 14 in the last quarter.LSU defense had there number the whole night and offense was really putting it to there defense was suppose to be the number 1 defense that year.Rebuilding? you got to be kidding me. Most of there starters were from the 2006 team that got blown out by the gators.Rebuildin? if you want rebuildin look at the michigan program thats rebuilding.Ohio State has all 5 linemans back from last year and wells as there running back and also have todd boeckham who was there qb in last years game.Yah your right every couldnt take care of there business but neither did ohio state when it counted the most.i wouldnt be surprise if ohio state makes it bak again this year but its a weak conference so might choke again.

  19. i just loved it that first year, when they were up against the underdog gators who BARELY made it and then KILLED/MURDERED/CRUSHED (not just stomped) the Buckeyes.

  20. Until the Big 10 joins the modern era of the Super Conference and employs a playoff game none of their teams should be considered for the BCS championship game.  Two years in a row they lost to an SEC team who had to risk their National Title bid in a conference championship game.  Two years ago they didn't even have to play Wisconsin, but using circular logic, since Ohio State beat Michigan and Michigan beat Wisconsin, obviously Ohio State would have beat Wisconsin...REALLY!?  Prove it!  Oh yeah, we never saw that game...nm.  I'm actually hoping Ohio State makes it to the BCS championship game this year too.  There's nothing like having the record for having the most consecutive BCS championship appearance without a win.
