Why do people laugh when something is funny?

What causes them to sense humor, then smile and exhale in such a manner when they do?

I think its like a brain reflex thing to the stuff we understand.

So for example if someone tells you a joke in a foreign language, you probably won't understand it so there's no laughter.

Monkeys smile and show their teeth when they feel threatened or afraid so I think it is just something we have learnt to do.

You answered your question with your question there... we laugh when something is funny because its funny. The natural reaction to something that is funny is to laugh same as when something is sad we cry.

Well, you just said the magic words "sense of humor". It's installed in humans to have a sense of humor. To laugh, when something is funny. To cry, when something is sad. To scream, when something makes us mad. If we didn't have any of the characteristics, we would be dull, bland, boring, just plain BLAH! Laughter is good for the body (soul). For some it makes us healthy. So when people laugh when something is funny, it let's the other person know that they are special and we love funny humorous things.

i was on wikipedia and they said like when something is funny it starts off like this:

something odd or crazy happens

and we cant understand it or when we get it

its like a shock or whatever

and idk i guess our brain just causes us to laugh.
