  1. I think you just answered your own question. Ninjutsu teaches how to take out your opponent, not how to p***y foot around with love taps and score points.

Gee let me see...hmmm...ninjutsu or taekwondo?

  2. Other than feeling like a real movie Ninja, if you join a competition, then you're no longer "concealing". Defeats the purpose of being a Ninja.

  3. How would one demonstrate stealth and assassination in a competition?

Performing in public is exactly what ninjutsu is NOT about. [Even the modern so called ninjutsu schools would tell you that.]

  4. Wow stslavik stole the show in this one, although competition is nice it limits you to what you can do, ninjutsu isn't about limits.  Competition does have its upsides, you do get to use wat you learned against someone who wants to beat you, so there is an upside, the down fall is, in real life the person across from you may want more than a trophy and a handshake.

  5. Hi there

    Silly and  pointless question!

Take a step back and think about it!

In modern martial arts its ok to take a pinch of this and a dash of that and do whatever is in fashion to help fuel ones ego!

Budo isn't about that. That's why sports practitioners will never understand any of the koryu arts such as iaido, Aikido etc

Budo's not a game its all about development. A concept that most children can't grasp!

Yes there's some c**p in the above arts i have mentioned. But the arts themselves arent to blame only the stupid practitioners and yes ninjutsu has plenty of them!

I suppose you think training's all about using strength, speed and power to knock out your opponent? You can all learn these skills down at your local gym! You don't need a dojo to develop them!

Ive studied lots of arts over the last 18 years not all of them transfer well into competition but that doest mean they dont have their place. If you want to compete then train in the arts that work best. Just dont expect the triangular choke to go down well on the streets whilst youre getting stabbed to death trying to put in on. You need another set of skills to deal with that type of situation.

In other words if you base your knowledge on things you have read on the internet or clips watched on youtube then you really should train more in order to find the answers you seek.

    Best wishes

  6. not every1 joins for the sport, some get into martial arts for fitness, self-defense, or fun

  7. Why do people think competitions are the reason to learn a martial art?

Competitions imply rules, and rules breed weaknesses by training the fighter to best manipulate those rules.

"Ninjutsu" (Ninpo taijutsu) is about training to endure; to make it home to your family at night. Competitions are about ego. Which is the greater purpose?

And if you think there's no need to be able to protect yourself with the police around, think again. Deshaney v. Winnebago Cty. Soc. Servs. Dept.: "...no duty on the State to provide members of the general public with adequate protective services."

And finally, studying ninpo does not make one ninja. So your question is pretty much entirely based on ignorance.

  8. i agree with stslavik, the whole intention behind ninjutsu is survival and reality based combat and defense, the defintion of martial is 'suited for warfare or a warrior and the definition of martial art is 'the art of combat and self defense' all real martial arts are not for comp, but for survival. those that are used for comp and display are martial sports so the fact that you asked this question shows what you think of martial arts and shows how much you know about martial arts. oh yeah and why would ninja want to show off their skills to others in a comp, that defeats the whole point of ninjutsu, you should really think more before posting such ignorant questions
