Why do people lie when it's not necessary?

Question

Yesterday after receiving no reply to numerous text and calls, I used SMART LOCATOR ,later a little over an hour the person replies they were 60 km from where SMART located them, and had not been where they were located by SMART

It means they are the person you shouldn't trust with.

when there's no immediate response to text and calls, it could be due to the following:

1.  they are not in a position to respond

2.  they do not want to respond

3.  they did not get your message

when confronted, some people go for the easy way out.

um........maybe they were doing something personal and couldn't tell u.....but i get u on the whole lie thing....i dont like people that lie they get on my nerves

Maybe he/she was in the middle of something and can't make an immediate response and had to wait for a convenient time to do so. You have to give this person the benefit of a doubt until if and when you can talk and verify.  

Add: Well, it seems you already did and they denied...One thing is certain, they didn't want to answer your text message and calls for reasons only they know.

it is in our human nature to lie or people do it to make them selves feel better or more stronger. I am a Christian so i believe that its in our sinning nature but no all the time.

first of all... SMART locating them is a bit odd. just let the person do as they please. and peoplee lie for no reason because its in their nature. its almost like a daily routine in todays society. often when people lie, its because they are so use to it, it is often impossible for them to tell the whole truth. its insane and extremely irritating!

are you someone that people dont liek to be aroudn do yo ugive them a reason to lie are they even worth seeing in the long run do you really care about them are they worth your time?

this is a very silly thing for whoever to lie about, yes i know people who lie over really dumb things, but yeah theyre usually not too birght anyways.  they can still be good people though but idk you usually have to give them a lot of chances

If you don't get an answer after several texts and calls you need to take the hint.  Be careful what you look for.  You might find it.

Just because you don't think it is necessary doesn't mean it isn't.  They may be doing something they shouldn't have been doing and lied about where they were to buy time.  There are two other possibilities in your scenario. One the person made a mistake when telling you where they were.  Two the SMART locator is incorrect or delayed.

There is always a reason behind a lie.  

1.Fear of getting caught or consequence, even small ones

2.Want to make themselves look better, even in small ways

3.Want to obtain something .. money, s*x, love

4.Pride

5.Cheating partner

6. Partner was buying you something and had to lie or you would figure it out, highly unlikely.

because either they feel like its better to lie to you because you would be irrational

OR

because they dont want to be mean and hurt your feelings

OR

they feel superiour and think it's funny

OR

they have just dont it so much that their whole life practically is a lie
