Americanized Chinese food is very sweet, normal Chinese food is somewhat bland.

I'm quite possibly the only one that doesn't. I can't stand Chinese American restaurants...it always makes me feel sick. I don't like fried foods that are loaded with msg. There is one szechuan restaurant that I like though.

Because there is such a wide variety of dishes due to the many provinces of China.  Not only do Americans find it exotic, even I, as a Chinese, haven't tried every tribe's spices and dishes yet.  I only like the authentic Chinese dishes though, not the Westernized style.

I find when preparing or ordering chinese food, it's a meal in its own e.g. stirfry (meat, veggies, carbs - noodles).  Easy to make and  fast dishes to put together.
