Why do people like music?

Scientific, biological, or psychological, and not philosophical answers please. nothing like "because it's god's way of speaking to man"

  1. Actually, this is a good question, and one I can't answer completely.

    However, perhaps we evolved to listen to natural rhythms (like animal footsteps, running water, bird calls, etc.) because doing so helped us find food, water, shelter, sense danger, etc. That natural tendency toward finding patterns in sound eventually became our love for music as society evolved artificial rhythms.

    At least, that's one possible explanation. It makes sense to me :P .
