Question:

Why do people like picture in picture (PIP) so much?

To each his own, I just never saw the value of this. I guess i can see that if you're watching one thing and switch to another during commercials, you can see when your show comes back on, but in the age of tivo and DVR commercials are just skipped through rather than avoided. And to me, anything worth watching would just be ruined by having another video taking up part of the screen. What do people see as the value and practical use of PIP? Some people seem adamant about wanting it; I'm just curious as to why.

  1. I agree that in the next few years, we should see the disappearance of PIP, as I think it was really made for when we didn't have TIVO or DVR and now it has become pretty obsolete. Back in the day though, it was nice to be able on Sunday to watch more than one football game, or any sporting event for that reason. But I don't doubt that it will be gone soon.

  2. Well, in my case is that my girlfriend can play with the Wii while I play with the PS2 and about the sound I hook up my ps2 to my Home Theater system and use headphone, while she uses the TV speakers. But I agree with you for regular TV watching is pretty useless since almost everyone has a cable box or satellite  receiver and just one per TV
