Why do people like to make you feel low?

my friend, suposed friend, decided that she wants all the attention of a guy who likes me and she has managed to start gossip about me and another guy who she is also trying to get because she knows he likes me too and so she has decided to start turing all my friends against me.

i have tried to deal with the situation with honour and respect to all involved but she is jsut not stopping. i have confronted her and told her lets save our friendship and stop all this. to me she has agreed but then i still here she has not stopped.

this makes me feel real low and depressed.
