Why do people listen to tv adverts, but when internet adverts come up they regard it as c**p?

  1. Most TV ads actually sell a product or a service, while a lot of Internet ads advertise stuff that people don't care about.  

    Ever seen a TV ad that says "guess this celebrity's I.Q. here!", how about "build a zwinky that looks like a deformed version of yourself", or "want some crappy screensavers that come with spyware"?

    Also, due to the prohibitive cost of putting out TV ads, they tend to be targeted to a specific demographic that would be more receptive to the ad; whereas web-based advertising is based on the number of "hits" a site gets and what they advertise may not always be interesting to the audience of a site so they ignore it.


  2. Eo has a point, and commercials are defined as spam. Most internet ads promote something completely irrelevant. Commercials have a point to sell a product.
