  1. because they are filthy McRich.

  2. What is....

    1) Keeping up with the Joneses.

    2) Surpassing their parents' expectations.

    3) A misguided notion that it means you've arrived.

    4) They're "safe" because it's like living in your own city with no one around you.

    5) You don't have to worry about sticking out in a crowd since your house looks like everyone else's.

    6) All of the above

  3. The same reason people drive around in enormous escalades and hummers. To feel big and important.

you know many people put themselves in debt just to get these huge luxuries and show off. it's idiotic

  4. Because they have too much McMoney?

  5. they enjoy them. You do realize, don't you, that your house or apartment is probably way larger than many peoples' homes in developing countries?

  6. Because the are very nice, and we can afford them.

  7. People what to live in them and they can afford them.  Do you have a better solution that does not involve government force?  Offering incentives to builders to build green homes is a carrot approach that may work.  Do not insure loans that are not on green homes.  Others?

  8. gee, lots of McJealousy around these parts.

    How 'bout schools?

    or crime rate?

    or safe neighborhoods?

for example,  "The ratio of number of residents in Moraga to the number of s*x offenders is 16290 to 1.

The number of registered s*x offenders compared to the number of residents in this town is a lot smaller than the state average.

Here's the real reason --- schools.

    Public high school in Moraga:

        * Campolindo High (Students: 383; Location: 300 Moraga Rd.; Grades: 9-12; Our rating: 99)

    Public elementary/middle schools in Moraga:

        * Joaquin Moraga Intermediate (Students: 665; Location: 1010 Camino Pablo; Grades: 6-8; Our rating: 98)
