Why do people love new york and the accent!?

Question

I am from NYC and have the accent and everything. But i just want to know why so many people get crazy when they are in NYC and they always try to fake the accent, mostly teenage girls ( I'm a teenager so yea) but really? is it necessary? I mean if I went to umm texas I wouldn't fake an accent like that... WHY DO PEOPLE Obsess over NYC and THEIR ACCENT!?!? if you disagree with me tell me...

I think that people do it everywhere not just NYC you probably just notice it more since you are from NYC...but I've never wanted an accent i am from the midwest and the way we talk seems pretty "normal" if there is such a thing. =)

when i was in new york i didn't notice any  accent.

the only time i did was when a lady said dog in a new york accent.It sounded pretty cool.
