Why do people major in stupid **** like sociology?

Seriously, sociology should not even be a college-level subject. Its so easy that any one with a mental age over 8 can understand it and its implications.

I think sociology is very useful in certain occupations.  I know I'd like to have elected political officials who have a background in sociology (among other things.)

what did you major in?

i started with a major in psych and minor in soc. i decided to double major in both psych and soc... its really interesting and it applies to everyday life and interaction. and you understand others better.

It looks like the question is asked by someone who does not know what sociology is...

People who have a real understanding of social issues their dynamics (e.g. the interaction of poverty and crime) don't normally vote for total idiots. Considering that so many do just that in America, it would obviously not be so bad if more people learnt about sociology.

Its acutally a nice thing to have as a minor. I was an education major with emphasis in science with a minor in sociology. you can do a lot of things with it especially if your in education like i am.
