Why do people make fun of Michael Phelps when he says "I'm at a loss for words"?

If people do make fun of Michael Phelps, it's because they're so desperately looking for a superhero to fulfill their rather boring and empty mundane lives.  Phelps is just like you and me, but he happens to be blessed with unbelievable athletic skills in swimming.  At the end of the day, he takes off his shoes and goes to bed just like everybody else.  

Don't make him out to be some kind of god.  He's not.  He's a great athlete, a great Olympian and a good-hearted person.
