Why do people make fun of the name Gabe and Brandon?

I've not seen any one making fun of the name Brandon --- that's my son's name and he's not mentioned any issues.   I work at a day camp for kids - and hear of a Brandon or two everyday.   Gabe on the other hand is not as common,  for me - I always think of Welcome Back Kotter....   My cousin's son is Gabriel - and we all call him Gabe....  but again - I've not heard of anyone making fun of his name....
