Why do people molest and rape?

I've been thinking about this lately and I can't quite wrap my head around it. Someone who molests and rapes using coercion (or force when that doesn't work) repeatedly, for years even, why do they do it? How do they not see the pain and damage they're doing to someone. In my book, causing someone else pain is the same as someone causing me pain. I've heard that they don't understand the pain they cause. But what drives them? What motivates them? What do these people see in the world that more peaceful, compassionate people don't?

I would like to understand. Does anyone know any good book, or in-depth research with people who 'commit' rape, incest, abuse etc? I'm in no way implying that what they do is justifiable or ok. It is a horrible act and a bigger problem than I would ever like to imagine or accept. It is a problem that involves both those who commit it and those who suffer it. We can try to heal those who suffer it and better understand those that commit it and why.

in my opinion people who have a good head on their shoulders are not able to understand the minds of pure monsters. i will  understand how anybody can take a knife a stab someone, rape someone, abuse someone, do a hit and run. i mean there are all kinds of things that i just don't understand how people are capable of doing all these sick things and not even flinch when it comes to hurting that person.

a girl walks down the street at night. there's a sick, sick twisted man waiting to fulfill his fantasies on her. i think they go for it because the opportunity is right in front of them, shes just a girl, its dark, its lonely, nobody can stop him, what could go wrong. some say its the s*x, some say its the power they are able to control. but even if those are the reasons i still will never understand

Rape is crime of anger and hate. so is molestation. These are crimes where someone either stronger, bigger or more powerful forces themselves on another person.

All Rapists and Molesters should be executed that would start the healing process

They're full of the devil. They allowed a or many demons to enter into their body through porno or having s*x with some one with that demon. There are other ways these demons are allowed in which that will scare the tar out of you so I want say. Anyway some allow the demon to take over and they don't even know that they did the act.

A good book would be the Bible and knowing Jesus as your Lord. That's where I learned and experience the casting out of demons.

Rape and molestation are done by people full of rage.  They are crimes of assault, not of s*x.  There is an element of imagined power at play as well.

They feel terrible about themselves all the time and the only way they can feel a little bit better is to make someone else feel terrible about themselves for a while.

It's a sad situation all around.

Upbringing. Anger. Lack of s*x. Needing to be in charge. Power trip.

If one fears they've lost control, they can really lose it, and they'll find a victim. It can be a child, wive, girlfriend. etc... Once they've regained control, they seem ok again.
