Why do people name their kids weird names?

I'm not talking about the names that black kids have im talking about weird names like a guy who has the name of a girl or a girl who has a name of a guy, why would u give ur son a girls name? are u crazy or something, or why do they give them names like Bo and zee and all that weird stuff, it's like their parents are asking for them to get made fun of in school cuz i've seen many kids at my school making fun of other kids because of their name. now i'm not angry or anything at the parents and my parents didn't name me a weird name but im just wondering

some people might think labron is a strange name, or many or culturally driven names. To each their own! did you see the chinese womens gymnastics? who the h**l names their child HE?

It bothers me also. I have a friend that thinks it is "cool" to make up stupid and strange names for her children. Personally, I hate my name, and it is kind of annoying to me...therefore, I'd want to try my hardest to not name my child something that they can be made fun of!

maybe because the name means something to the parents or they don't want to be boring or lame. kids make fun of them b/c they're jealous the kid has a cool name, and most of the people that have unusual names love them when they're older and everyone grows up and gets a life. my name is shyloh (which was weird until a couple yrs ago) and i got made fun of all the time, but i love my name

They do it to get attention.  Have you ever read a list of names that celebrities have given their kids?  Talk about a gut buster.

I'm for using names that are not common, but you don't need to name your child "Apple" or "Zuma" <---- those are real celebrity baby names.

I'm just fine with my son Jerry and our 2nd child, which is on the way now, is going to be Howard or Dianne, depending on the gender.

Probably so they won't be the same as everyone else. Usually when the parents have boring names they give their kids different names thinking that they'll be happy with it.

But yeah i know what you mean....Some names these days are just not right.

I think some people don't realize that the kid is going to have that name all his/her life.  I wonder how many of those parents would like to be called by some of the names they tag onto their kids.  And, yes, there are some "interesting" name out there.
