religions; cults; different groups, etc. is it camaraderie, or what? for instance i feel i need only to look inward to find balance and goodness. i don't need a bible - truth is self-evident outside emotion - i don't need scientology, lore, statues, song, etc. i don't need to shave my head, don a robe, necklace, go anywhere, celebrate any holiday, to love my neighbors.

what is the point of it? am i asocial? is that all?

  1. We're humans it's only natural for us to want to find others with similarities as our own.  For most it's just nice to know you aren't the only one in your area with your belief system.  Yes you can find someone with the same beliefs on the net but it's just not the same as finding a person in the real world.

  2. Hebrews 10:25; ' ... not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near'.

  3. They need peer group support, otherwise they would not believe on their own.

  4. I just think you're confident. Good for you.

  5. Yes, but religions claim responsibility for morals.  Either way, you lose (though intrinsically, you win?).

  6. they don't need to....they just do because everyone does...I learned more without anyone whatsoever...and I have no backlash about anything...

  7. I understand this. Spirituality on any level for me is a private endeavor first before anything else. As far as the way others join groups and what their motivation is, I don't say this in jest, but perhaps it is for the same reason you asked this on Yahoo Answers. You're seeking a community of sorts and perhaps others to validate your experience with spirituality. If you were not, you would have no need to ask the question or to have interaction.   In a similar manner, others seek that validation but in a religion, cult, or a different group.
