Why do people not consider skateboarding a sport?

People think skateboarding isn't a sport because they're stupid. They're incorrect, it's a sport whether they think it is or not.

I don't have an answer but I once had a professor who told me if there is not a ball involved, it is not a sport. Maybe some people think that.

because typically, the skaters who can skate well dont look like real athletes. they look like punks who graffiti on the wall which is bad reputation for them. they go on spot like a stair set or a rail where its illegal to skate on, and peole would think theyre criminals. because they destroy the spot ..gosh maybe if they provided us a skatepark or maybe a spot where we could skate on, they wouldnt be arresting them skaters. its not fair how they provide these other people basketball courts. maybe if there werent many basketball courts here , they be arresting people tryna shoot things into the trash can or somebody dribbling a ball.

one other reason people think skateboarding isnt a sport is cus  they think its stupid.. but it takes skill, stamina, and strength.. :(

i dint think it not a sport i skate board my self its amazingly hard you have to spin jump flip every athletic thing you have to do its the same as any outre sport
