  1. because they're CLOSED for the holidays.

  2. Most stores are looking for people to join them before the holidays so they can get trained and gain experience before the rush occurs. Keep looking for a job during the month of January.

  3. don't have time to train during the holidays. they're busy enough and have already hired holiday help

  4. A lot of companies have hired extra help (usually in the fall) to help with the Christmas rush and Boxing Day.  Often these people are seasonal and will be laid off after the holidays.  Also the holidays are the busiest time of the year for retailers and they don't have the available manpower to properly interview and assess new applicants.  The holidays are also total chaos to try and train a new person.  Hope this helps and good luck.
