  1. What else are they supposed to do? Apart from reading the 'metro' or books.

  2. My niece's  ex-boyfriend came home one day with a black eye. She asked him what had happened. He told her a bloke was looking at him on the tube so he hit him. And the bloke hit him back. That's why people don't look at others on the tube, too many sad lowlifes about.

  3. thats just not true. i wink at everyone on the tube while singing 'im too s**y'

  4. How would you know that if you didn't look at them?

  5. In case they think your a homosexual!!!

  6. Maybe because we Brits are too inhibited.

  7. No-one looks at anyone in London. There are so many weirdos and freaks in London that you never know what you'll get yourself into. Plus you are usually in such a rush or have got a million things on your mind that you are not in the mood to interact with people around you. Plus, whats the point in looking at someone? Its not like you would want to talk to them. It just appears intimidating or confrontational. Everyone is too busy looking for people with back-packs and big coats on the tube now anyway.

  8. Because that would be a come on.  But it worked with me once and it was.  She was a married kiwi.  But she had to go back and we lost touch.

  9. possibly because early a.m they are in a Little world of their own thinking about their daily crush of the TUBE, the slog of the work when all they want to be doing is back under their duvets and fast asleep.

I often like to have at folk around me and see if their are any tasty talent to have a perv at, its the difference from a quick look than standing openly staring at someone

  10. hummm good Q

  11. I looked at a man once, he said, "what you looking at, you g*y" in a threatening way.  I looked at a pretty girl once, she said,"what you looking at you a perv?.  Now I just go to sleep.

  12. Can`t read a book & look at you!!

  13. To reserve their reserve.

  14. where else can you look

  15. People are very impersonal in cities, especially London. On a very rare occasion would you see two people who do not know each other talking on the street. If a guy came to me and started talking I'd think he was coming onto me whereas he may just want to chat. Depending on if he's good looking or not (which they usually arnt) I would pray he would just leave me alone. When builders say "hi" or "morning" to me, I say hi back and quickly go on my way, I dont wanna stop for a convo...

On the tube I look at people but not intensely though. Its not so bad for me because Im female, I can understand why guys may try to avoid eye contact it can be taken the wrong way.

  16. You're stuck in an enclosed space usually with your nose level to someone's armpit! It's claustrophobic and most people feel that attracting eye contact leads to conversation. However, I love smiling at total strangers just to see their expression of shock that some weirdo has actually noticed them.

  17. Because if you look at people on the tube, they'll expect you to give up your seat.

Either that or they'll think you're that weirdo who looks at people on the tube.

  18. They are reading their lines of the teleprompter or cue cards.

  19. It called a glare.. Sometimes they are seeing through you ...you're in the way. Flashes in the mind. Who's this. Safe ? Wierd ?Looks moody too. He's glaring at me. Yuk !
