Why do people obsess over celebraties? ?

I don't get it. Why do you give a **** about someone else's life that oyu don't even know?

because divulging into someone elses life helps people escaape from their own traumas in life

Mostly because they're idiots.  I can't imagine why people obsess over self-gratifying, egotistic actors who don't care one iota about their fans.

Because they are all over the place, plastered everywhere, and you can't escape them. Also it's easier to have a crush on someone you know can never reject you, seeing as he or she will never actually meet you in real life,

because many people can relate to celebraties lifes and the characters played. to see that person in real life has a significant meaning to many. and knowing that your seeing a person that everybody knows is kinda overwhelming.

Are people not allowed to show compassion/admiration to people they don't know?

Secondly, our media puts the lives and images of celebrities in our faces everyday.  

Obviously people care because all the tabloids and TMZ are still in business.
