Question:

Why do people on motorcycles think they own the road?

By whipping through traffic and going 30 miles over the speed limit? I hope someone side swipes them (oops sorry I didn't see you whizzing past me!) And I must say it's the younger guys with those whimp bikes, not the older people with Harleys and stuff. What's wrong with you? Are in a hurry or trying to show off? And if you're trying to show off, who are you showing off to because no one cares about your bike.

  1. You're an idiot.  I've never been cut off by a bike.

But I can't tell you how many times some dumb *** driver decided to cut me off making me slow down so I don't get killed.

Motorcycles drive fast so they can get away from all the idiots on the road today.

I'll cruise along at 70 on my Ninja but if someone is on my *** I'll push it to 90 to humble them.

  2. If my City there's 5 million people and many of the guys on Crotch rockets....Are riding like there hairs on fire....

It seems to me they are risking more than needed, but there's also a thought that if your in front of everyone or so far ahead, then they can't hit you. It's a dangerous way to ride where I live, because everyone drives faster and faster....There's no rhime or reason for it.

In California, they go slower, but do lane surfing, which is legal there, but not done in an unsafe manor.

  3. Cagers do that every day.

I challenge you to count how many drivers you see in one day, that drive like they're going to a fire.

You see one bike do that and you blame it on all motorcycles

  4. This is the stupidest question I have ever read!!!! They all do this because there in a hurry to be the next sad story. You know, the mom or dad with the remember "blah blah" 1987-2008". Then everyone has to buy those stupid " look twice motorcycles are everywhere" bumper stickers, since they feel bad. Other then that reason I don't know why they speed and move though traffic like idiots. I forgot they do it in movies too....

  5. First, please don't generalize all riders by the actions of a few.  The biker/rider community has a name for them, they are SQUIDS.  Most of the people here don't tolerate them either as they give the rest of us a bad name.

Second, unless you ride please don't discount "whimp" bikes or the younger folks that ride, again you are generalizing.  Sportbikes and Cruisers are two different bikes built for different reasons.  Just like there are different makes and models of cars and trucks on the road so there are bikes.

Now, yes you have a good complaint.  Why not get a license plate number and report THAT person if you feel they are doing something illegal.  IF you want to ask a question about motorcycles and riders, this is the place for it but you need to tone your rant of a question down.

Oh and FYI - I do ride a Harley, I am a VERY defensive rider, and I am Not a Young Person.  I will, however stand up to support them against rants like this.  I hope this answers your question.

  6. That's what young people do! I do it even though I'm a girl. I have a mitsubishi. And some of us may do that but I have  a lot of friends who don't do that (guy friends) are very road safety consious. So please don't stereo type us.

  7. Because they do.

Anything a motorcyclist does is safer than some joker yakking on a cell phone while at the wheel of a car or truck. When was the last time you heard of a motorcycle taking out four SUVs?

You won't be able to afford to drive your cage much longer, anyway, so I wouldn't loose any sleep over the way motorcyclists ride.

  8. I experience the same issues here, but what I notice are the ones that take the time to scope out an area and road to enjoy a speed ride on and they are usually respectful on the main roads, it is the inexperienced or newer riders that seem to not consider the drivers, especially elderly ones, that may react in fear or something that could actually side swipe them or even worse.

Bikers in our area are for the most part respectful and a joy to ride with or be on the same road as, it is the one idiot that ruins it for so many.

  9. sounds like you never got that bike you wanted

  10. I'd ask the same thing about some SUV owners.

  11. Most motorcyclist I know don't drive like that. Those that do is really none of your business. Why do you care if I or anyone else gets ahead of you? It's attitudes like that that produces road rage.

  12. Here's my generalization of you based on how you worded things.

You drive slow and hold up traffic.

All the traffic is stuck behind you getting pissed off.

Bikes can get around you and distance themselves from you in a very short time by accelerating to a safe distance away from you.

The bikes slow back down to where NORMAL drivers will pace themselves once they are away from the problem aka YOU

You get angry and pissy over it and hold it against all bikes

You are the problem and think you own the road

  13. I understand what you are saying, but coming here and posting a rant eluding to the fact that all motorcyclists act this way, when you d**n well know better, is just stupid and unproductive.

  14. some people are in a hurry, other people like the rush...

I don't get how passing you constitutes "owning the road" though...

Quite the contrary to showing off, I ride as if I were invisible...

works pretty well, because I haven't been hit by a cager yet...(though I've come close a few times)

no I act like I own the road in my Cadillac...as opposed to my rocket..

  15. Its not any worse than the idiots in the cars talking on the phone, reading and texting while trying to use one hand and sporadic glances at the road to drive. And all while speeding.

So whats more irritating a man on a motorcycle driving 80 with both hands on the handlebars and looking with both eyes where he is driving.

Or the idiot in the car drivin 80 with one hand texting one hand working the radio while she/he holds the steering wheel with a knee.

I'll take the guy on the motorcycle anyday.

  16. We do own the road!

    That's why we think so.

Whimp bikes? Seriously? How funny is that? I don't have anything at all against HD riders, but calling a GSXR1000 or a CBR600 a "whimp bike?" Those are evil little machines designed to push every corner of the performance envelope. "Whimp bikes" from 10 years ago can suck the paint off a new Lamborgini and get 50MPG doing it. I don't think  the biggest leather covered HD riding office manager type would call that a "whimp bike." Then to wish that they would get in an accident and probably get injured or killed? WOW! That's really charitable! Nice work! I'm sure whatever god you pray to would be impressed by that attitude.

    So?

    Don't own a bike?

Hop into your cage and look out!

We own the road because we love it more than you do!

  17. 1st off IT'S NOT ALL MOTORCYCLIST THAT DO THIS !!! A few bad apples spoil the rest. I do agree I really get sick of the hot heads that need to push the limits of safe driving. Also it isn't just the young guys on crotch rockets, I have had many cruiser butt wipes act just as dumb. We all ride to enjoy those that feel the need to show off should stay home and play with.......................................

  18. Your question should be 'why do car drivers think they ow the roads'.I have no idea, but i hope one of these motorcyclists rips your wing mirrors off next time.Have a nice day.

  19. my experience on motorcycles has been that most drivers are oblivious to bikes.. in fact, i almost dumped my bike a few nights ago due to another clueless driver, but when u r on a bike, your antenna always has to be up to prepare for tragedy.  i have driven in excess of the speed limit on my bike - its hard not to.  bikes, especially crotch rockets can be very nimble and the rider has a great deal of control.  i will say, they are definitely not made to choke along at 30 mph... they don't call em crotch rockets for nothing! lol

  20. Everybody who pays taxes owns the road. What an effed up comment that you hope somebody side swipes them. You are essentially saying that you wish they would die.

The larger majority of motorcycle accident are where a car hits a motorcycle. So who is more reckless. hey common saying is "oh I didn't see him". That's because you people in the cars are smoking, texting, doing your make up, brushing your hair, spanking the kids, and tuning the radio all at once.

Get off ur friggin high horse and pay attention to the road. U drive safe and let others learn their lesson the hard way!

  21. Hmm..I agree with with your opinion. Nowadays, although the new generation is getting the higher education, unfortunately, their morale and personality ethic is getting down and worst than those who didnt receive proper education. This phenomena really reflect how scary of the world in the future might will come. What we can do nly try our best o do our best and try to bear with those behaqviour, an if have chane, wh don't we give our and of help by eudcate them or advice them if th situationis allowed.
