I am a fairly intelligent girl, but I constantly get judged by the fact i'm dyslexic. It's not something I can do anything about, andit annoys me when people assume I'm stupid. Would anyone like to speculate?

  1. I think that humans instinctively search for flaws in other.

It all has to do with the need to procreate.

Humans search for others who have the best possible genes.

Dyslexia is deemed a flaw, and you may unconsciously be sending out signals that you are embarrassed, which translates to other humans, as you have a flaw.

Or you could just chose to believe that most people are idiots.

  2. I was born with dyslexia also and hated reading and writting in school, but I was forced to read and write constantly.  It can be overcome.  Some people with dyslexia tend to be a little bit scatterbrained.  I was very scatterbrained and still am to a certain degree.  Just because you see the world differently than others doesn't make you stupid.  There's a law that Emerson talks about, it's the law of compensation, and it's states that nature compensates for our flaws.  This compensation literally turns your "flaws" into some of your strongest assets.

  3. I WOULD SAY THESE PEOPLE ARE JEALOUS OF YOU.MY GRAND-DAUGHTER GOES THROUGH THIS BECAUSE SHE IS VERY SMART GETS VERY GOOD GRADES . SOME CALL HER NAMES , THEY TELL HER SOMEONE AT HOME IS DOING HER WORK FOR HER . I GUESS THEIR  PARENTS NEVER TAUGHT THEM RESPECT. YOU JUST BE PROUD OF YOURSELF AND BE ALL THAT YOU CAN DON'T LET THEM RIP YOU DOWN EMOTIONALLY. WHEN YOU HAVE A GOOD JOB & WORKING THOSE LOOSER WILL BE LOOKING FOR THEIR NEXT PREY. THEY WILL PROBABLY BE THAT WAY WHEN THEY BECOME ADULTS. HEAD UP & BE PROUD!

  4. I think its because people like to feel better about themselves, and compare you to them. Its something they can fix upon, and feel superior about.

You may be pretty/intelligent/good at sports/religious/ etc etc, but all that doesn't matter "cos you can't spell" *their words, not mine*

I hope you try not to let it affect you too much. After all, if they judge you like that before they even get to know you - is it worth knowing them in the first place? And I REALLY hope its not the teachers who have that attitude to you......

P.S. many famous people have dyslexia....( I didn't realise just how many, until I found this link! lol)
