Question:

Why do people plateau in the bench press?is their such thing as people never moving up in weight? For example?

people hitting 500 and never moving up?or does it matter at that point with genetics?

Your body gets used to what you are doing and reaches a plateau.  The best thing I have found for continuously moving up in weights is to get some micro-weights  I have a set that ranges from 1/4 lb to 1 lb.  That way you can increase the weight by 1/2 lb at a time.  This might not seem like much but it adds up over time.  I have been doing this for 2 years now and can generally add 1 lb a week to my bench press and still hit the same reps.  This equals 52 lbs a year.  I can't bench press 500 lbs yet but can do more than I ever have.  You can find micro-weights on line
