Why do people put beer cans under car tires?

I find it quite annoying, and I am curious to know if there is a reason for doing this.

We crush em in Australia cos we are full of beer and don't have anything else to do but crush em till it's flat to get more space in a bag to bring it to a recycling depot and get 5c. Next year it's 10c  =)

Because they are usually drunk and have no respect for anything. Around campus here, the most prevalent pieces of litter are beer bottles/cans/boxes.

Juvenile behavior. They simply want to crush a beer can and make you think you hit something when pulling out. Often, it makes quite a noise, so some drivers get worried they struck a pedestrian or another vehicle.

Just to be stupid - I guess they like people to smash them or something..and yes it is quite annoying - don't people have better stuff to be doing anymore?!

Personally, I do it to crush the cans before recycling. I usually put a bunch of them in a gunny sack and smash them with the truck. Saves a lot of time. When I have a pickup truck load, I take them to the recycle center and collect a pocket full of FREE money.
