Why do people put bottles of water in their yards?

  1. I put them in my garden to lengthen the growing season.  Specifically I place them around my young tender plants e.g. tomatoes.  They store enough heat to protect against late spring and early fall night frosts.  I can plant 3 to 4 weeks earlier using them.

      


  2. People do it in the mistaken belief that it will stop dogs doing poo on their grass. Something about them not going near water. It doesn't work, but seems to keep some people amused in between picking up dog droppings.

  5. I think it's to keep dogs off their lawns .....so they won't potty on it. I would rather clean up dog p**p then have a bunch of water bottles in my yard!
