Why do people "PARK" on driveways and drive on "PARKWAYS?

I really am courious where the term PARKWAY came from ?

  8. A Parkway in the UK is a railway station with a large car park usually out of town, used as a Park and Ride.

    The first was Bristol Parkway, which is a few miles North of the city, close to the M4/M5 motorway junction on the Bristol Avoiding line.
