In their individual blood lines, why do people refer to themselves as being 1/32nd Sioux, or 1/64th Maori, and never 31/32 or 63/64 White.

  1. Coz it's waaaay sexier to be part Maori or Sioux or whatever than it is to be plain old white.

  2. They tell you about the part that is not obvious because they are either proud of the fact or think that you might be interested.

  3. That's boring!!!! And if someone is 63/64 white, their whiteness would be obvious.

  4. Probably because they don't really know what their heritage is except for the small fraction.

Personally, when asked about my heritage, I usually respond that I am 1/2 Greek and 1/2 all mixed up!  (The other 1/2 is actually 1/4 Jewish, 1/8 Italian, & 1/8 Native American but unless someone is asking about one of those specifically I don't break it down.)

  5. Maybe it has something to do with <DNA> !?!  For instance it's a good chance that you may've gotten one of your parents eye color!?! or closer to in than the other parent !?!  hair color, or even something like the shape of your nose MIGHT look more like one parent rather than the other !?! OR maybe your eye color or nose shape looks more like ONE side of the family than ..MOM or DAD`s.. than the other !?!  Sort of like if you'd add water to stretch or make the little bit of paint you might have !?! MORE !! so you wo'nt have to spend on a new container !?!.. But now if you painted a same picture on something`else it'll be weaker !?! If you get my meaning !!  as in quality I suppose!?! . like if a person says something like I'm 2 fourths !?! or even 1/2 indian I guess is just some that own up to or holding onto that part in ones bloodline/roots !?! although it's more watered down after all the generations that may be born!?! Or even the mixture of bloodlines do to sexual partners maybe.    rRr
