Why do people say Hong Kong is in China?

Question

I know what Hong Kong is "in" China, but that's like saying San Juan is IN the US!

And do people even know Hong Kong was built, ruled and colonialized by the British for more than 150 years!?!? and the economical situation just differs too much from that of Mainland.

Hong Kong was taken away from the Chinese by the British. It has been given back to China, so Hong Kong is really part of China. What's special about it is that it has it's own ruling government. But the final decisions still lies with the Chinese authorities.

yes we r part of China. but not really 'in' China as we r outside their boundary. those mean british gave us up year 1997 n returned us to China. they never want to give us a british passport. just shut their door out fr HKnese. u know how much they took fr us every yr?? anyway, coward! so now we r under China. we hv to listen to what they say... n rule by them. although we r so-called independent.... but stil, our stupid governor is listening to the leader of China v v much! he is just like a slave to him.

They say , cuz it's part of PRC . It is administrated under some B.S " One country 2 systems" policy . But, don't worry , they will make it just like the mainland by 2047 ...

I know that some Hong Kong people might not like this but I think that Hong Kong is not in China, it is a part of China. the fact that Hong Kong was colonized by British for years, doesn't change anything. Hong Kong had been a part of China for many many years before that. 150 years? Well, historically, it's not many if you talk about centuries.It's like you being away from your family for work for a while. or even kidnapped by someone who treats you nice and gentle cuz you are a big help for him. That doesn't mean you are not a member of your family anymore.  Moreover, I don't think people of Hong Kong chose to be ruled by GB, themselves. As you said, Hong Kong WAS colonized by some political and ecnomical reasons.

British stole Hong Kong from China in the 1800s because China was helpless country with swords and spears compare to guns from the British. Now that British gave HK back to China; HK is part of China but they govern differently than Mainland but they are still part of China.
