Why do people say blue ray players are just prototypes???

Because Blu-Ray was released with level 1.1 software which while not exactly being prototype class does not fully implement the Blu-Ray spec. There are already 1.2 players on the market but many of those don't fully implement the spec either. This summer 1.3 players will be released which are the FIRST ones to fully implement the Blu-Ray spec and are therefore the first ones that are not really prototypes.

I don't know who would say that because Blue Ray players have been available for 5 years.  Maybe they are just being cautious because there is always something new around the corner when it comes to consumer video technology.

Blu-Ray players are probably a prototype for something even bigger coming, idk im just thinking cause everythings getting so much more advanced
