Question:

Why do people say don't become a doctor the money?

Aren't there doctors who do become doctors with the thought that they will have a great sum of money, yet they still have a passion for what they do? And I sometimes hear of doctors who do it for the prestige and money, especially when their family pressures them into it.

  1. Like my mentor always told me "you NEVER become a doctor to help people." Truthfully ask any doctor why they became a doctor and if they answer correctly it will never be because of the need to help people. Truthfully I am going to be a doctor to spite my mother and to be prestigious. The fact that I do save lives is the cherry on top.

  2. The best choice of profession for anyone is to find something you love and learn to do it well.  It won't be just a source of money, but will provide joy and fulfillment, too.  To do anything "just for the money" will be an unhappy way to live.

  3. Most doctors are deeply in debt from medical school until their mid to late-30s, depending on what they specialize in. It takes an absolutely hideous amount of work and dedication to reach the upper echelons of the doctor pay-scale. Add that to the increasing tendency to sue for anything and everything..

  4. The process of entry into medical school is highly selective. Anybody who gets in is smart, driven, and good at organization, planning, and persistence in his work habits. That means he can do lots of things to make a pile of money, many of which don't have the same investment or obligations that come with the practice of medicine.

  5. Ive been at med school for 4 yrs now. Its not about money, for me anyway. I had a high paid financial job before i decided to change career. I just wasnt happy.   I will have about 50 to 60 thousand pounds of debt when i finish and wont earn very much to start.

Im doing it because i enjoy it. Its that simple.

Dont be driven by money. Do something enjoyable. Try different things out.

Good luck in whatever u do.

  6. İf I was a doctor Id try to get ınto the Doctors wıthout Borders program for awhile before I tried to provide a life for my family.
