shouldn't we be wasting as much water as possible?

if everyone wastes water will the earth run out of water?

isn't conserving water adding to global warming?

  1. that water won't be potable so don't waste.

  2. yes.

    go buy a boat

  3. pollution and sewage is making our water dirty so the more we use the more dirty water we are going to get and if we make it all dirty there will be no more drinkable water. The water you drink, wash with, etc will be cleaned and used again so the more water we use the more systems it would have been through by time we drink it.

  4. The scenario that has been suggested is that the icecaps will melt and raise the sea level as the temerature rises.

    This causes problems becuase:

The icecaps are fresh water (not seawater), but dumping them into the ocean will not reduce the salinity of seawater enough to make it drinkable.  So all the fresh water that is trapped in the icecaps will no longer be accessible without desalinizing seawater.

Rising sea levels can cause coastlines to engulf freshwater lakes and rivers or cause enough backflow as to increase the salinity of freshwater lakes

Rising temps will cause inland freshwater supplies to dwindle because of reduced precipitation

Rising temps will also cause increased use in fresh water

You can argue about the validity of Global Warming, but the above is the logic behind a reduction in fresh water supplies.

  5. Global warming will not produce more water.  It is melting the polar ice caps and therefore raising sea level.  When sea level rises, it will most likely happen in the oceans.  The oceans are not drinkable.  Even though the freshwater will dilute the oceans slightly, it will still not be drinkable.  We should never waste anything.  The Earth will most likely not run out of water as it cycles, but treating it is expensive and wasteful.  No, conserving water does not add to global warming.  That makes no sense.

  6. Well if we keep on wasting water it goes to the canal then the canal goes to the sea(with all our dirty water) and the water thats clean becomes dirty and we dont want our fishes to die.If you keep on wasting water your not really helping the world at all since it still geos out to sea.

  7. global warming is false..enjoy the water

  8. Sigh...

The Earth has the same amount of water (within a few hundredths of a percentage point) it had billions of years ago.

The problem is, that well over 80% of the water the Earth has is tied up in oceans (salty). What everyone needs to do is conserve *fresh* water. The more fresh water wasted for any purpose not related to keeping body and soul together, the more likely we are to die from having no water to drink at all, or from poisoned water, or suffer from water born diseases.

Add to that that all pollution placed into the waters of the planet WILL come back to haunt us, either due to loss of food (fish kills), or from the toxic substances dumped into it that make the water unuseable.

As for conserving water adding to global warming, no... it does not. Also, if the polar caps do melt, the most heavily populated areas on the planet (and in some cases, the most fertile land on the planet) will be inundated with salt water, and rendered useless. That means they have to move inland, and build on farmland. The monitary cost for the lost land would be quadrillians of dollars.

    Good Luck!
