Why do people say get a life if u watch anime?

ive got a life and people think if u watch anime u r sad but i feel sad if i don't watch anime anime makes me feel happy i mean my dad looks down on me 4 watching anime he thinks anime is just baby cartoons he never looks at what i watch but just sees cartoons it pisses me off

I don't understand why ppl would think us who watch anime are disgusting or have no life cause heck i watch the stuff i love it. its cool its got everything we want in real life that we cant have on them like the friends on it are always nice (friends in life usually betray u or something) so yea of course ppl like them they give us fun things to think about and do and lets be serious do anime characters not all almost always look cool or something and the cloths are always cool idk why ppl discriminate against anime fans and or stuff u dont like it ignore us dont talk about us behind our back go anime! xD

This happens to me sometimes. I don't talk about anime that much at all because no one in my class watches, or likes it. But the few times I mention anything anime related, I get critisized. For example acouple of days ago my friend asks me what I did in my weekend. I say I spent most of my time rewatching Higurashi. The next thing he says is "Oh is that some stupid anime with no good plot (or something like that." I reply no its a really great psychological horror. That shut him up, how ever in  most cases people don't even let me answer them back. And then other times they say I have no life just as well just because I watch anime. Now I will be honest I don't get out of the house very often, but it's not because all I do is watch anime, it's because there is nothing for me to do even if I do go out side. I mean the most I could do if I go out side is go to the park, and then basicly do nothing.

I think normally the reason people say that is because the majority of people who watch anime are unattractive, awkward in social, fat, or a combination of the three. And people here saying that whem they open up about being an otaku, they meet many friends that are the same. I think this is just one of those unattractive people, just hanging out with more weird people. I am and will always be a closet otaku. I consider myself very attractive and I am not socially awkward in any way. I just KNOW that if I come out and tell people, it will only make me lose my social status with attractive women and what-not, and only lead me to other weird, socially awkward, "going to Naruto caffe's in public" kind of people. I only wish I could find a hot girl who watches it to. But I NEVER have. So unless you want to always be looked down on, stay a closet anime watcher

I had some one tell me anime is just stupid and i told them to read it with out the negative attitude and they liked it... shows that if they don't look down on it withotu reading they'll like it and understand better.

I'm an anime and manga freak and I only watch it probably 1 or 2 hours a day tops.
Its a time for manga and a time for getting out, pumping some iron, playing ball, talking to "real" GIRLS, living your "real" life.

I'm just saying, I love anime/manga,but sometimes, you gotta got out and live life, "real" life.
Go to an anime store at least, might meet a cool chick that likes anime too and you might get lucky.

h**l, go to the movies and check out the latest Chris rock movie, get a good laugh.

h**l, go lift some iron and get swole so you can at least kick anybody's a*s who teases you about watching anime.

Just get out every once and awhile and enjoy life before its over, d**n.

Well people often say get a life well think about this.... That is your life people are into sports and what not your into anime I for a long time was a closet okataku and when one of my friends at school told me that he liked anime i told him i like it too and then people who you would think wouldnt watch anime actually did I mean not braging but im a pretty good skateboarder and to alot of people thats ya know a cool thing in todays pop culture and anime is just an awesome part of an even cooler culture so what im saying is that you would be suprised how many people like anime.

well i think lots of manga readers like chibiness =D but on the outside world of non otaku =O cuteness is for babys T.T or they think pshh wow america is so cool (or like austrailia or england or whatever) so japan must suck ...  but lots of americans are mean *crys* that is why they insault u because they arent used to ur lifestyle of living o.o

It's because certain anime fans are a bad representative of their group. I've heard the saying "it takes 1 idiot to make 100 people look bad."

The bad representatives are usually the ones who stand out the most. The bad anime fans are:

-Those who SCREECH at you if you like another anime over the one they like, because according to them, there IS a right and wrong opinion.
-Or the ones who stalk Japanese foreign exchange students and badger them about anime.
-Or scold you for not liking anime, and saying the Japanese are superior to Americans for the SOLE REASON of anime.
-Act like they're all that because they claim to be "anime experts."

It is because they think your getting to obsessed with fantasy i mean YOU ARE LOOSING YOUR REALITY (not shouting just making it big) my father and mother doesn't say that words that will hurt me its because i learn some new personality like the time i was really mean to my little brother then i watched Full Metal Alchemist and I realized if i was like the main character i could get along with my brother easy.and just a tip keep watching it you might learn something
