Why do people say humans are affecting nature when...?

We're a part of nature? Aren't we natural?! I mean, I know we have more control over nature than most animals, but our CO2 out of our mouths isn't more potent than a bear's or dog's or wolf's or cute little fluffy kitten's! We're nature too, people, but we're not God. We can't control the Earth completely.

  1. Oh Yes we have a profound effect on nature. One way is through the garbage and waste we produce. Haven't youbeen to a beautiful spot along a river or creek look down and see a f-----ing Pepsi bottle floating in the water? We destroy nature to build houses, freeways buildings, communities etc. Yes WE HAVE AN EFFECT!

  2. No. You were right the first time with "affecting".

Bears, dogs, and kittens don't go around fouling the environment the way humans can. Did you ever see a bear's coal mine leaking acid? Or a dog's slag heap? Or a kitten's garbage dump?

  3. We are affecting nature by producing so much harmfull stuff, such as chemicals that pollute the atmosphere and damage the ozone layer. Animals don't manufacture stuff, so they aren't quite the same.

  4. Your assessment is correct. However, in order to ensure our continued survival, we have to modify our behaviors. The world can only support so many human beings, and there are limited resources available for all. It's a big equation, and complicated. If we don't modify our behaviors, we face extinction. And before that extinction, there will be horrific human suffering and pain. We have to avoid this.

  5. i totally agree with what you are saying, but we have most of the control over nature and  out environment that you think, and all this talk about  how our environment is at its worst, and that is all because of us, you are right we dont have total control, but we do have enough to change our bad ways :)

  6. Not all fuels are from Corn..........

Take a Look at Algae Fuel...Made from Pond Scum !

  7. The human mind is more complex than that of any other animal in nature. There exists an id(the natural part of the human psyche) as well as a superego(counter to the id, the part that is affected by society and the steady changes of other humans). The unbalance makes us less natural and the evolution of human minds makes us different in general. Humans don't evolve physically anymore, we evolve through technology in ways that no other animal can compare to by far. CO2 isn't as big of a problem as CO is, cars emit Carbon Monoxide which cannot be converted back to oxygen by trees, CO2 is however a problem because of a general lack of trees because of deforestation.

  8. You are right but Humans also produce CO2 in every industry that far outweighs the amount exhaled. We are the un-natural producers of carbon dioxide because of our technologies.

  9. yeah, but the gas, pollution in the air is harming the environment. Look, the cars are harming the environment, too. In China, you'll see most people riding their bicycles. People around the world are trying their best to keep the world healthy, but some are not helping. When you're late for work and it's far away, you need a car, right? But if you use a bicycle, it's not as fast. So, some people are helping the environment and others are not.

  10. its probably because we people consider ourselves so superior that we dont count ourselves as nature

  11. i know its not always every human its people like bush almond and other people who make misery in life and destroy the earth by war ,cutting trees down, selfishness etc...

but the reason why we are hated is that we have the strongest brains ever and we should used as an example for life

  12. They're talking about the CO2 gases that come out from all of our automobiles. Duh.

    Do your research first.

  13. Climate change isn't caused by the CO2 that comes out of our mouths. It's caused by the CO2 (and other greenhouse gases) produced by our factories, cars, power plants, and other machines, and by deforestation and other human activities. (Trees absorb and store massive amounts of CO2, but release all or part of the CO2 when they are logged or burned, which we are currently doing at rates far greater than the rate of decomposition and forest fires that would appear in nature, especially in Brazil and Indonesia. Not only that, but by cutting down forests, we prevent them from absorbing all that CO2 in the first place. There's actually a controversial theory that claims that anthropomorphic global warming wouldn't be occurring at all if we still had pre-industrial levels of forestation around the world, even with the greatly increased quantities of CO2 our industrial and transportation sectors are spewing into the atmosphere.)

We are natural, but like any other species that has become too great in number and is overloading the Earth's natural systems, we will face the consequences of our own success, if we're not careful. Are you familiar with Malthus?

  14. Things don't change.

    People change.

  15. Yeah, I love this question because of course you're right - humans are natural, and everything we do is therefore a product of nature, and yada yada yada.

But because we do have the ability to think and plan for the long term, and because as natural animals we have an inherent self-preserving drive, wouldn't we be kind of stupid (or at least an evolutionary failure deserving its doom) if we failed to somehow combine those two characteristics?  Can't we form a plan to preserve our well being on this planet by examining how our livelihood affects/ harms the environment?

  16. We show no consideration to nature. We consider only ourselves, ourselves first than others. By others I mean animals. Animals don't drive cars or motorcycles. They don't use electricity etc. They cause no harm to nature whereas we do.

  17. Exactly. Humans occur naturally in the environment. Hoover dam is no more or less artificial than a beaver dam.
