It's just a graphic way of saying that they don't like the smell and taste of cigarettes on a person's breath.

I'll have to go with Krystal K on this one.  It's a way to give the mind a comparable situation that's easier to imagine the nastiness of it.

Because kissing a smoker is gross as is kissing an ashtray....

For some reason I do not think you have to have an IQ over 65 to understand this.

Because smokers seem to have become a focus of hatred, I am not sure why.  I find this spiteful bullying of smokers by society extremely distasteful.  I never cared if a man smoked or not, and I still wouldn't.  Neither my husband nor I smoke, but if he wanted to it wouldn't bother me in the least, and it certainly wouldn't put me off kissing him.  There is something very, very nasty and very, very weird, about this spite towards smoking.  it's a kind of nasty puritanism, and it is very unpleasant.

I've kissed smokers and it didn't taste bad at all. l*****g an ashtray would be much, much worse. As long as they brush their teeth, it's not a problem (at least in my experience).
