Why do people say "Ouch" when they get hurt?

I actually say "Ouchers" but why do most people say "Ow" or "Ouch"?

  1. My mom and grandma say 'agigabio' it means the same thing except in Japanese. I just scream AHHH!!!

  6. We were taught as children to say specific words for pain - like "Ouch" - rather than scream and yell loudly. It's part of the civilization process.
