Why do people say tattoos have to have meaning?

i mean my tat does, but my artist does beautiful lifelike flowers, and I'm going to get one, it has no meaning other than its beautiful art, i think if its beautiful to you why not?

Silly, then the meaning is that it is a beautiful flower done in a beautiful way and is art and should be appreciated for that.

Getting something for 'beauty' is a meaning.

Someone who flowers have no meaning, who is not interested in flowers, who does not notice flowers, ... would not chose to have a flower tattooed on their body.

I have intricate, meaningful, tattoos that I drew and researched and thought about for months.

But, I also have a tattoo of a flower, because I have always loved flowers, and my life is better because of flowers and flowers make me happy. I chose an artist who's work I knew and trusted to do a beautiful work of art in the form of a tattooed flower. This is personal and meaningful.

Because if you are going to put something permanent on your body like that, it should have a meaning so you dont regret it in the future.

well its your body, do and get whatever you want

but a meaningful tat is recommended so you wont end up regretting it.. if you get something meaningful then you wont regret it because it has some type of sentimental value to you...

but  like i said its your body and your choice, its not a MUST to get a tat with a meaning..its just recommended

Mostly when people say your tattoo should have meaning they are talking about people who would go out and get a certain tattoo just because some celeb had it. Sad thing is there are people out there that if Paris Hilton went out and got a rose tattooed on her forehead...well they'd be out the next day getting a rose on their forehead.
