Why do people say jordan was the best and still is the best, when kobe already passed him up a long time ago!

And that's beside the 6 championships, 5 MVPs, 6 finals MVPs, 10 scoring titles, 3 steals titles, defensive player of the year, 11 time all-nba, and 9 time all defensive team. d**n, after the finals I thought these comparisons would end.

Jordan carried the Bulls to thier 6 championships!They were not cabable of getting that far wwithout him.As great as Kobe is he has not carried a team the way Jordan did.This is not a knock on Kobe.He just does not have the leadership capabilities that MJ had.

Today's era: Not by a long shot. I would have too say Ray Allen is, shooting over 45% from the field, 40% from the 3 pt. line and 90% from the Free-Throw line for his career. Kobe comes nowhere close too matching this.

All-Time:

h**l NO! Reggie Miller is, being not only one of the top shooters, but making shots when it mattered most. You can say none of that for Kobe.

Is he best passer?

Today's era: He has a career average of 4.6 assists per game, which is not even top 70 in NBA History…

Is he the best passer?

All-Time: John Stockton has 15,806 career assists. Kobe has 4,002gh said.

Is he the best scorer?

Today’s era: Nope. This is very debatable, but it remains the truth that LeBron is averaging a shade over more PPG this season.

All-time: No way. MJ is, having 10 Scoring Titles to Kobe’s two, and averaging over 6 more PPG.

Is he the best rebounder?

Today’s era: Obviously not. Kobe is a shot guard so he shouldn’t be. But too put things into perspective, Chris Paul, a 6-1 PG, averages more rebounds per game than Kobe.

All-Time: Of course not. Bill Russell is having averaged over 14 more rebounds per game than Kobe has.

Is he the best defender?

Today’s era: No way. Bruce Bowen is.

All-Time: Of course not. That honor would go too Bill “The 2nd G.O.A.T” Russell.

Is he the best winner?

Today’s era: No. Tim Duncan has four Ring’s with ZERO Hall-Of-Fame teammates. Kobe has three Ring’s courtesy of Shaq.

You know what I think Jordan being called the "Greatest of All-Time" is over-rated. The NBA is jumping to conclusion when the franchise is not even over. I mean the term is over-rated. Does the NBA want a person to surpass him or do they want their franchise to have crappier player coming in? NBA fans don't you want other great players to come in show that they can be the best. People saying "that Jordan will always be the best" are people that are just huge Jordan fans. Kobe didn't pass Jordan. They are two different players who played in two different eras. Totally two different people.

He was clutch not only in the regular season but in the post season in crucial games and has plenty of rings to prove it. He single handedly changed the game and the mindset and made the game main stream. He is the best player in my opinion above Wilt and Kareem and his scoring is off the charts and the competition back then was better then it is today so Lebron or Kobe scoring high doesn't mean all too much. Lebron and Kobe will never beat Mike because they don't have those career defining clutch plays in the playoffs as Kobe is only clutch in regular season games and Lebron can only drive to the rim for a clutch shot cause he has a limited aresenal.

People say that Jordan was the best because he was the most high-profile star in the history of the game.  That's not to say he didn't deserve the notoriety what with the many, many accomplishments that have already been stated and restated here, but he gave the NBA a star to rally behind and it is what it is today because of Michael Jordan, he has inspired millions of children with his skill.  So I disagree with you that Kobe has surpassed Michael, if you mean in skill then I feel that they are both Elite superstars who can easily and often dominate a game who have different time periods which thus makes impossible to judge, but if you mean in terms of what Kobe means to basketball, he has a long way to go.  Look at Kobe's style of play, the way he sticks his tongue out when he drives the lane, the way he walks and talks.  He has imitated Michael Jordan from the day he entered the NBA.  I think Jordan is the best all-around player the league has ever seen, but I don't necessarily think he will always be.  Just be patient and enjoy everything that happens along the way.

Here is my reason why Jordan is the best.  

#1 I don't care what you did in the regular season, nobody is called great for winning in the regular season only.  

#2  Championships are what's important.  If you can be MVP in the championship that means you were the best in the post season when it counts the most.  That award is givin out to the best player in the post season it's not watered down like the regular season MVP.  Michael JOrdan has 6 finals MVP's and 6 rings as the leader of his team.  Kobe has 3 rings no finals MVP.  That means he went to the finals and wasn't the best.  kobe has been to the finals 5 TIMES AND ONLY WON 3 TIMES.  HE GOT SWEPT BY THE PISTONS AND GOT SPANKED BY 39 POINTS TO THE CELTICS.

JORDAN HAS BEEN TO 6 FINALS AND WON 6 FINALS EVERY TIME HE WAS IN THE FINALS HE WON.  KOBE ONLY ONE 3 TIMES AND LOST 2.  ONCE WAS WITH SHAQ WHEN HE SHOULD BEEN THAT SUPERSTAR AND CARRY THE TEAM AN GET HIS MVP.  HE DID NOT.  

WHEN KOBE CAN CARRY A TEAM TO THE FINALS, WIN, GET MVP AND DO THAT 4 MORE TIMES THAN YOU CAN MAKE AN ARGUEMENT.
