  1. You must understand the difference between Climate and Weather.

    Weather - short term/daily variations

Climate - Long term/ average variations

One cold day doesn't mean it's winter. One hot day doesn't mean it's summer.

  2. beats me , I guess for the same reason they still talk about global warming when the average global temperature has dropped to the lowest its been in 30 years world wide.

maybe they don't watch the news or read news papers.

  3. Okay, so you may think of global warming as something that raises the temperatures drastically, everywhere, all the time. What it is in reality is an effect caused by humans that causes Earth's temperatures to slowly rise over an extended period of time. It is an average! You shouldn't expect that temperatures will be drastically raising all over the world at the same time! No, this is incorrect. Global warming is an average, and right now the western hemisphere is experiencing the La Nina effect, which lowers the temperatures for one season every 10-30 years of so. Some people may have the wrong idea, and think that we will be underwater within the next year, but no, it will be 50 years before we start to experience the hard effects of it. Once again, global warming is an AVERAGE raise of the globes temperatures, the whole world. Life doesn't revolve around America and Americans. What do you think the temperatures are like in other places in the world? The cause of the small gain, insignificant gain, is caused by La Nina, and other abnormalities in the Earths Temperatures. But it is still loosing ice at a rapid pace, much faster than it is gaining. Some people are acting like the weather is predictable, and that if global warming does exist, that everything that happens temperature wise should point to that. Well, once again this is not reliable or realistic. The Earth's temperatures are still highly unpredictable, but the one thing that is happening, even by the slightest margins, is global warming. It is an average, and it is going up. Just  because weather is cold, doesn't mean it isn't happening.

Oh and Crash? I read the newspaper every day, the Oregonion, Oregon's newspaper, and it has articles about global warming all the time. Obviously you don't read the newspaper, huh?

  4. Global warming is real!!!!     Last night it was snowing, today its raining!!!    The temperature changed 20' in like 12 hours!    If it keeps warming up at this rate, we're all gonna bake to a crisp by this weekend!!   AAAHHHHHH!!!!!!

Moron, spring has just begun.   It takes longer to warm up since the snow is reflecting sunlight back to space before it can turn into heat.    That snow also uses lots of heat from the air to melt.

  5. Climate Change is the correct term for the subject. This is not something that dramatically will affect the temperature as in it's  not going to be tropical in Chicago anytime soon. The largest problem exists in the oceans. If the oceans heat up the hurricane seasons will be longer and more fierce, but more importantly the water will expand. Add this to the melting of the ice caps and there is a lot more water in the oceans. The thinning of the ice in the arctic circle is very harmful to many animals such as polar bears, who need the sea ice to hunt and get food. The fact is that it is happening, just the results aren't as dramatic in Chicago.

  6. In short global warming is an incorrect term.  The correct term (at least for now) is climate change.  With climate change, some places will get warmer, some colder, some wetter, some drier.  Its happening all over the world and you will only see more indications of it as time goes by.

If you need more proof that it is happening, consider the amount of hurricanes and floods the world has experienced in the past year... at the same time parts of the world are getting more and more arid and having shortages of clean water.

  7. 1. It is an average. If it is cold where you are it means nothing about how warm it is overall.

    2. It is about climate. If one year is unseasonably cold that means nothing.

    3. Global climate is complex. If some places get warmer it will disrupt weather patterns and make other places colder.

  8. Same reason why there are Pregnant Teenage Girls despite all of the Abstinance only classes that taxpayers are paying for those teenagers to take. (Because like Global Warming, Abstinance Only is Bull$)

(Some might bring out the fact that the teen pregnancy rate has dropped, but this is not due to Abstinance Only. Catholic Hispanic girls have a high rate of Pregnancy despite the fact that the "church" opposes birth control and provides Abstinance only classes)

  9. Let's just continue to use coal to burn our inefficient power plants so we can heat our insufficiently insulated homes. And let's just continue to waste gas to move inefficient vehicles. What do we care if Europe and Japan are already years ahead in clean energy and countries like Iceland and Sweden will be independent of oil within a generation. Let's just continue to import oil at ever increasing prices. Because this is what you evidently all want, isn't it?

Progress and economic growth go hand in hand. And we don't want our economy to grow, do we?

  10. Global warming doesn’t change the natural variation of seasons, some years we get very cold winters these are easily seen in the 100 year record and there have been several in the last century that were colder than the current one.

  11. Global warming doesn't change seasonal variation and relatively short termed changes in a smaller area of the world.  Global warming refers to an overall increase in temperature over the entire globe.  Even if global warming wasn't occurring, you would still get varied temperatures throughout the year in Chicago.  Random storms and temperature changes aren't going to just stop, but overall the globe is warming.  Also, an overall increase in global temperature will change the way in which precipitation cycles world wide, and since precipitation helps steady temperatures, some areas of the world will undergo shifts in typical seasonal temperature.

  12. And 50 degrees in New York when it should be around 62. I don't know.

To whoever gave me a thumbs down, type www.aol.com and search weather in Brooklyn.

  13. there are many ignorant people out there

And they are arguing over points of  academic data

    as if that changes anything.

And authoritarian forces are taking advantage of the phenomena

    HOW EVER

There is a series that you can download easy ,called

    bbc,Planet earth by David Attenborough.

    About 15 ---700mb videos

this is a photographic team that has been filming Nature stories all over the world ,for a very long time .

In 3 of the episodes called --the future--saving species

the future--living together ,ice worlds ,

they compare films they made before of places and species to what they are filming now in the same places.

Many scientists give  commentaries as well .

And whole migrations of animals involving millions have disappeared in only 20 years

    Ice sheets,glaziers have gone

They say about half of the worlds forests have gone in the last 300 years

Half of the natural  habitats, like wetlands , ice fields tundras, mountain vegetation and rain forests . in the last 50 years, and all of the inhabitants with it

Global warming is a component in a group of destructive forces at work ,it is not the only one , but  other factors which we are responsible for ,are rapidly making it the worst .

We are now  witnessing a mass   Extinction of animals and plants of Biblical proportions, equal since the disappearance of the dinosaurs.

Who cares what it is called or WHY EXACTLY  IT IS HAPPENING ,What or who is to blame

If we want to save ourselves as a specie ,we have to address

    the problems

Apparently we can correct most of the destructive factors

with disciplines ,changes of attitude and habits.

A diminishing of the world population is essential especially in poor and densely populated areas.

a world sustainable number BASED ON BIO RESOURCES  is 3 billion,

And so far we can still do it voluntary,There may come a time when the governments will take harsh actions .

If they are not already doing this underground

  14. I hear you I live In the Midwest and it is 33 degrees now.  I could go for some of that global warming BS about now.
