Why do people say they like going to the beach? ?

Where i go to school, Alabama, everyone says they like going to the beach. Now I don't know if they really do, or if they just say it because everyone else says it, or if they grew up down here and that's what they do, but i think going to the beach sucks.

I mean, you really can't swim in the ocean, the sand is hot, you always get sand in your clothes, then in your car, there's not much to do at the beach, and i think it would get boring after a few times.

Anyone care to tell me what they do at the beach or why they go?

I think i'd find more fun in going to idaho's rivers and canooing through them.

I know that during spring break you drink, but any other time, i think beaches would suck. Anyone feel differently?

I totally agree. The beach is overrated. I'd rather go for a walk through a wooded area or swim in a swimming pool.

I live 20 minutes from the beach and I take every opportunity in the summer to go. I love the smell of the ocean and the eternal look of the water, I also love the sound of the waves when they hit the beach or a rock. I basically just love the beach. The swimming is great too. drinking on occasion.lol. WE love the Nude resorts in Edens Bay the Dominican Republic., or any private area on the beach there. You can just be one with nature.Literally. It is Freedom.

For some people, its not all about swimming, drinking, or doing anything.

Some people just like the serenity that the beach offers. Some just like to be in the sun and like to get a little tan. Some might like the scenery.....and by that, looking at the opposite s*x lol. A reason for going to the beach won't be common among everyone, you know?

i live near a beach...but its a lake front I'm from wi..small town..and i love it..nobody lays around on the beach sept the moms with there baby's...and everyone is either kayaking,canoeing,wake boarding,skiing,tubing and jet skiing and its just so much fun...i could never just lay on the beach and get tan id rather go out and get tan having fun...and i would love going in the ocean i bet its so clean compared to the lake near my house haha....

I love the ocean.  I love sitting on the beach and just being close to the ocean.  I also love jumping the waves and feeling them wash over me.  The ocean is so peaceful.  Wish I was there now. :)

I hate the beach, too. And I live in California where we have the best beaches. I hate it for the same reasons as you, because the sand, and I don't get into that nasty azz water.

I don't mind the women and hanging out on the boardwalk, but I rarely go to the beach and I live down the street from it. I went Friday, but before that I hadn't been in years.

edit: I do like the smell and the sound of the beach, and the fact that it is cooler at the beach (at least Cali beaches).
